NFTs have grown in popularity over the years, from being a little-known technology to being featured on major news sites and selling for millions of dollars. In fact, the NFT market generated around $23 billion in trading volume last year. Even big businesses and celebrities jumped on the NFT bandwagon, either purchasing or launching their own NFTs, contributing to the industry’s unexpected rise.
NFTs are digital assets situated on blockchains and are distinct because of the identifying information contained in smart contracts. Celebrities are now utilizing NFTs to tokenize anything from music to photography to artwork. Paris Hilton, the queen of pop culture and entrepreneur, released her first NFT with Super Plastic, a vinyl toy and digital collectibles firm funded by Google Ventures and Justin Timberlake. Hilton managed to sell her Iconic Crypto Queen NFT for $1.1 million in April 2021 and has a library of 141 items.
