Eminem and Snoop Dogg had both their names booked for a performance at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, and their show took things to an amazing level.
It was Thursday (August 25), when both the rap stars made an announcement confirming that they would transport their fans to the metaverse itself with their set, citing it as “a first-of-its-kind performance… inspired by the world of the Otherside metaverse.” Hence, the well-known music channel will partner up with Yuga Labs themselves to make the performance a reality.
According to the reports, Otherside, which is Yuga Labs’ new virtual world, will be using NFTs and ApeCoin cryptocurrency, with both Snoop Dogg and Eminem generating some buzz around the platform prior to its formal launch. As for their performance itself, Slim Shady and Doggfather performed their recent single, “From the D 2 the LBC,” which also has a music video featuring their BAYC apes.
Speaking of singles, Eminem has just released “Curtain Call 2,” an album that was first teased by the artist in a tweet promoting “From the D 2 the LBC,” where he added a hashtag with the album’s name. What’s more, Snoop Dogg plans to make Deathrow Records an NFT music label, possibly the first record label to exist in the Metaverse. Other than album drops and collectible goods, what Snoop Dogg and Deathrow Records plan to do in the metaverse is still vague or left to speculation, which might be something fans could look forward to.
