Web3 and the Creator Economy

One might have heard of the term “creator economy.” But chances are they might not know what it means exactly.

The creator economy can be defined by the 50 million creatives who convert what they are passionate about into full-time professions. It is comprised of every type of content creator possible, ranging from artists and influencers to journalists, gamers, or anyone who makes content and connects with their fans. Recently launched platforms like Twitch, Patreon, Discord, and Substack help support this direct network of creators-to-fans, which avoids traditional gatekeepers while opening doors to new types of content monetization and creation. However, such platforms are just the beginning. Web3 technologies, which include augmented and virtual reality, artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchains, cryptocurrencies, and smart contracts, are going to fully alter the way creatives generate content, receive payment for their work, and claim ownership. More importantly, they will alter the way we perceive the internet.
