XR — The Future of VR, AR & MR in One Extended Reality
As the world enters into a post-digital era, companies and organizations are keeping their sights beyond their business’ digital transformation, paving the way towards shaping how entrepreneurs, stakeholders, employees, and individuals communicate with the world through technology. When Sergey Brin showcased Google Glass’s prototype for the first time in a charity event in April 2012, the AR headset brought surprise and dread. Soon it was adopted by many, and the users found the smart glasses fun, more than functional. And while the rest of the crowd expressed curiosity, few people felt their privacy getting violated and labeled the wearers ‘glassholes.’
